I have no clue about the significance of this act. Is it some sort of sacrificial thing? Will the great gods of soccer now have this young player for dessert?
Cesc will be the victim in all of this. Barcelona needed to take a loan to pay its players for June and Arsenal has no obligation to sell its star player, who has 5 years to run on his contract, for less than his market value. So Barca can engage in all the disgraceful stunts and media sniping it likes, but ultimately a deal looks unlikely.
Cesc is Xavi's replacment. They could share the RM until Xavi retires or stops playing good, then Cesc has it all. Why was Fabregas chosen? His play type is really really similar to Xavi's.
