Yes I did - finally. I want to thank everyone who posted a reply here with their suggestions and help.
When I finally went to the "Troubleshooter", I followed the advice to change both to the same compatibility, and then allowed a few more seconds to elapse for the "Activated" message at the menu page - I was rewarded in a functional trainer.
