Well today I was looking to start fresh on Halo 3 with the easy achievements since I had to start the game over entirely, and when I finish intalling it to my hard drive then taking the disc out and starting the game, it says to put in the game disc and I was like WTF!?!
I then realized it couldnt be installed from what a message said on Halo 3 which really sucks for me now, because my disc is all scratched up.
I think I should buy a new copy, but I'm not exactly sure.
What would you do?
Thanks

My best advise, if you still have the receit take it back where you got it and tell them the disk doesn't work...it depends on how long its been since you got it, they may not take it back. When I bought Hitman: Blood Money after a few months it kept freezing and stalling on me so I took it back where I got it and I was able to get a replacement free-of-charge, but I had my receit still.
Otherwise try wiping the back of the disk with car cleaner or dish detergent and warm water, it may help get some of the scratches out and clean it up a bit.

Its been said multiple times as to NOT install Halo 3 on the HDD. When the NXE came out, Bungie put a message on Halo 3 before you got to the main menu.
Bungie also said so on their site when the NXE was released.
Just play the game on the disc and if possible, uninstall it from the HDD.
