Since i've seen a lot of misconceptions figured i'd write this up before CH gets their first trainer out. this is going to be a little Q&A
Q: Does LIVE disable cheating A: NO IT DOES NOT. Cheating can disable achievements in certain games for GTA 4 achievements can be blocked by in game cheating.
Q: Does LIVE disable TRAINERS? A: SOMETIMES. Some people have many problems with LIVE and getting trainers to work. For myself Gears of War was the only LIVE game i've had trouble with. For Fallout 3 and Halo 2 i had no trouble with the trainers all the way through. And i'm on vista.
LIVE makes coding trainers incredibly difficult. Go look at the Fallout 3 forum if you want to know why. CH went crazy trying to get that trainer to work.
Q: GTA4 Should get a +100 option trainer don't you think? A: Yes, and that would be awesome. but most likely not happening. You have to remember that this GTA is TOTALLY different from any other game. It's like when GTA3 game out. the trainers and garage editors took a long time to come out. And it will be the same time with this one as well.
Now onto WHAT IS POSSIBLE and WHAT IS NOT POSSIBLE within the first few weeks.
POSSIBLE-Trainer with 10-15 options. Health, Guns, no cops. basic things like this that we expect from CH and any other trainer maker.
NOT POSSIBLE- 100+ trainer. This is going to take a while and may never happen. If it does it will most likely be over a month or you'll have to mod the game to disable LIVE
NOT POSSIBLE- Garage/Parking spot editor. This is going to take a while as well. with GTA3 it took almost 2 months to make one. With GTA4 because there are no garages this could take even longer. I have a lot of faith in the GTA modding team as i used to be a part of it but this will still take a while.
NOW. WHAT LIVE/Rockstar Social Club DOES
LIVE gives you achievements and stores your save games. It must connect to the internet at least once to start your game. After that you can play the game offline and still get achievements offline (though you must connect to the internet again to update them to your gamertag stored on xbox.com) -You MUST be signed into LIVE (online or offline) to access your save game just like Fallout 3.
Rockstar Social Club app tracks your multiplayer stats and gives you access to the video editor/uploader to the Rockstar Social Club. GO sign up now if you haven't. it's required for the game to run socialclub.rockstargames.com/
if you have any other questions i'd love to answer them. And after reading this please to not ***** about wanting a huge trainer. It is simply going to be too hard with this game to get it out fast because of the LIVE interface.
Fallout 3 saves the game without LIVE without problems. And you can access the saves without LIVE. I've never used LIVE with Fallout 3, nor with any other game that had it. What for? I don't give a crap about those achievements. I want to play the game.
LIVE is... ballast. It's cute (sort of, if you like stuff like that), but usually pointless. Haven't had any reason to use it so far and I doubt I ever will.
Whatever happened to the days when you could just install and play a game without ending up clicking through gazillion useless software during install?
Who really NEEDS LIVE?
I doubt anyone does. There's alternatives for co-op, etc. Just take RA 3.
This is really getting ridiculous, since when do PC gamers need achievements? all this **** does is complicate things, if i wanted achievements or trophies i would of got gta4 for the 360 or ps3, microsoft is just trying to control everything goddamn thing and it ****es me off. i have to have windows live JUST to save my game... WHY!? shouldnt they offer windows live as an option instead of craming down our goddamn throats? man... gaming isnt what it use to be and sorry for my language.
I must say I enjoyed seeing the line about GFW Live being cute, I doubt many people have seen it that way ^^
And what many people requesting trainers does not see (to get back on-topic) is the fact that the complexity of today's games are increasing rapidly, such as the implementation of GFW Live, Rockstar Games Social Club and similar things. Things that usually mean more code (to be able to track progress, achievements etc. and to disable changes to game code during play, possible to stop game cracking, hacking and training, or otherwise altering the game experience).
All these things contribute to more work training games, and therefore more respect to those who still can do it (such as Caliber, Pwiz & Co.) would be in order.
Appreciate a GTA IV trainer if and/or when it comes, don't take it for granted.
Peace, fellow CH members
