Generally speaking, what your describing with characters vanishing and other textures is due to your graphics card. You might need to either A)update your graphics drivers(which you should try first)
or B) you need a better graphics card. However, if you can run it in the first place...it might just need the graphics drivers updated.

To improve your overall CPU speed you have only 2 main options as well. Overclock your pc (which if done incorrectly can cause serious damage to your pc, also invalidates your warrenty if you have one. Best to either carefully research on tech forums or get someone who knows what they are doing to do it. It also depends if your pc CAN be overclocked as some makes such as DELL disable such tweakings. Alienware should be tweakable however.) Or have a new motherboard with CPU which is more powerful than your current one.

I would suggest the new drivers and such, as that usually fixes problems and saves buying uneeded hardware. Hope that helps.!

Upgrade your drivers. If that doesn't work run the game in DirectX 9 mode. You have to manually navigate the directory and run the AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe file. Should fix it. DX10 has issues like that with Xfire. The ground disappears when the window is up.

Also, overclocking your CPU or GPU wont fix your problems. In fact it has a better chance of making things worse. Overclocking your graphics card can cause graphical anomalies.
