When I put the Spore disc in the D: Drive, it doesn't recognise it. I tried Run > D: Autorun but it said to enter a disc in drive D. I have the disc in the drive but it's not recognising it! HELP!!!!
hmmm the best i can tell you is to make sure you put the disk into your dvd drive and not a cd drive( yeah i know sounds silly but i've done it before myself lol).
other than that... umm.. make sure the drive's drivers are up to date?

if you are looking for a plain dvd drive, they shouldn't be to expensive. might even find one for less than the game cost.
but if you want a dvd burner drive, then they could get a bit expensive, depending on what you get. take note, though, if you get a dvd burner drive you won't be able to use any dvd burner software until you remove the securom security software that spore installs. you can still play dvd's and games with it installed, just not burn anything.

also a dvd drive is hardware and not software. can't be downloaded but you can order one through online stores and have it delivered to your home.
the safest bet though, would be to get one at a real store. you could probably do a search for computer or electronics stores in your area or just look through a phone book for one. Circuit City, Best Buy, and CompUSA are a few i can think of right now but there are most likely many more that i have not heard of.
most of the good stores can install it for you, you would just need to bring your computer with you. some will charge a small fee, while others may do it for free so when you find a store ask them about it.
if i had your computer sitting in front of me so i could see it then i could talk you through how to do it for yourself, but for me to just sit here with no reference and try to explain it would only end up causing confusion . not the kind of thing you want when you are messing with the innards of a computer

That funny cause Alcohol still works with Spore installed and I can still burn dvds. Maybe it certain types software but not all. Also if want a good dvd burn get a plextor.
