Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Message Board  

I recently reintalled Oblivion and I'm having absolutely no luck in getting the cheat console to come up. Maybe my ~ is hay-wire, but considering I just typed it, I dont really think so. Could anyone let me know if this is some technical issue, or if I have to do some file editing I would be very grateful.

have you tried the ` key?(should be the one below the Esc key). Thats the one i use to bring the console up.

Yeah, thats the one I was using. Doesent matter any more. For some reason, this time around my HP DVD remote was causing "Oblivion" to not read the "`" key. Unplugged it and crisis resolved... Took all morning to figure it out...

It's weird, I used to be able to cheat with the remote, but since I re-installed it, not anymore.

That isn't true. I run windows Vista home premium 32bit and i dont even run it in compatibility mode or have administrator rights activated on it nor do i uses any command prompts. Yet the console has always worked.

MAYBE if it was 64bit, it might not work, as it seems many games have issues with Vista 64bit but i have not encountered any problems with Vista32 and Oblivion.

Although i do have both the expansions/addons and numerous mods installed now, it did still work when i had it just as vanilla.

I use Vista Home Premium 64-bit, the console shows up.
