When will the Timurids atack???
It all depends. It's mostly some time after you discover gunpowder and guns, but because it varies an exact year is almost unpredictable. If you have lands in the Holy Land then I suggest you reinforce them to the maximum since they attack with elephants and different types of cavalry and artillery.

Can you drive the Mongols and the Timurids out of the map for good?
You could, but after a very long and gruesome battle. If you kill their commanders after a few turns new ones will come. Start killing those commanders and there might be a third wave and even a fourth wave of commanders. After a long battle you will have managed to kill all of them without any serious complications and the hordes will stop coming.

Best units for fighting Mongols and Timurids are Elephants!
Trust me,I beat them with Byzantine Empire with elephants...But it took long time...
