Okay for xmas I got a Action Replay and I have been playing around with it and the different codes it does for pokemon pearl. Been to the trading boards on different sites and I get the feeling it is frowned on that AR is existing and that Pokesav program is available. My question is what is considered a hacked pokemon? One that is gotten thru AR codes like a shiny pokemon in the wild or one that is created from pokesav program that uses AR codes? And what program is used for cloning? Or is that another word for breeding in the game. Cause I have done that myself too.

A hacked pokemon is any pokemon modified by codes. This could be like having its nature, moves, stats, abilities, and levels modified by cheats. Cheating for specific wild pokemon only gets you an un-modified pokemon, so it is not a hacked pokemon.

For cloning you only need a DS and the game.

there have been many.... many debates as to weather cloning is hacking.

if it is, then it's a sort of mild one.

I wouldn't do it, personally. It can leave terrible effects on your game.

Okay so cloning is breeding with a Ditto for example at the day care, right? I was just wondering what folks meant that they were going to clone it and then return the orginal pokemon back to me later.

That is not cloning, that is breeding.

Cloning involves making a duplicate of your pokemon, including Item, stats, nature etc

So when someone is cloning they are using a program like pokesav and then getting an AR code to create another pokemon like the one they wish to copy....?

No, Hacking will generate a new pokemon/ item or changes some thing with one of your current pokemon.
Cloning is done without the use of an AR, instead it is done through the GTS, Link.
