I do have more than 60 skill points left but I already fill up every skill. The game will not let me continue or save in Nightmare mode unless I lower my skill points. Can I do this with the trainer?

i'm using the basic (1st) HL's trainer for DX9, n i didn't properly read the warning regarding the "skill" button... i think i exceeded the numbers of time i'm allowed to "push" numpad (6)... i didn't have any problems with saving the game, but i havent been able to get more than 1 skill point at any point in the game... i hate to restart the whole game all over again, cos i'm alrdy at the Templar Base level... is there anyway i could repair this? maybe by re-editing my character's skills point outside the game? if so, where can i look for such file?

any help would be great, thanks...
