i have ace combat 5 and 0. i thought they were both good, especialy 5. i want to know if the story/gameplay and plane buying system in ac5 is as good in ac4.

Well, the plane buying system is subpar, but it is still okay. The story to me is pretty good, but they use sketch-type drawings to portray the game's story line. Gameplay is similar, but more unamusing, and there's only 20 levels, but that is about the same amount as AC0, if you don't count the different mercenary styles you can achieve. The missions are pretty good, though.
Conclusion: If you TRULY enjoyed AC5 and AC0, then this game should be pretty good as well.

yes, i got it and enjoyed it. i am a big fan of the ace combat series. (as i've had disscussions with you)
