🤔 It has been a long time, 1996, since I had this problem. A game that requires more ram (2gb) and a DX10 card? I am just baffled. Way to go Microsoft… They forgot to mention how much power you will need. I am using an Ultra-X 500 watt dual-rail power supply. From what I have experienced, it looks like it will need a 750-1000 watt-continuous p/s…

i played this on my notebook with XP and 2GB ram with a 7950 gtx notebook nvidia card. worked very smoothly and no probs.

this game is no different than any other game, it wouldn't require more power. that's not how hardware works. if you can play any other modern game with your PSU, than you can play this game.

as for the DX10 issue, look out there in internetland, because Razor1911 released a DX9 WinXP crack for the game so you can run it without Vista and DX10.

A game DOES NOT, I say again, DOES NOT, require more power than any other, your software has nothing to do with (not directly anyway) your PSU, or power output. (Most people don't need the extreme power PSU's out there anyway. 700w and upwards is almost completely unnecessary - unless you have two 8800 Ultra in SLi and 8 HDD's. - you get my point)
As for the DX10 requirement, it requires DX10 installed, NOT a DX10 card! I'm running it with a 7800GT (which has DX9.0c-based hardware) and it's running perfectly fine. (On Vista, with DX10 installed.)

And yes, as mentioned, there is a crack which also enables you to run the game in a DX9 environment. (Not sure how they do it, there are several possible methods for this though).

Just to make everything even more clear

You do need more ram. In shadowrun you need 2gb RAM and in for example halo 2 you need 1gb RAM. I know this because on the back of the box on the game it says you need 2gb RAM in shadowrun. Also on my 1gb RAM laptop it runs halo 2 but not shadowrun. I know it doesn't run because of memory because it came up with a message saying that it didn't have enough memory to play the game!

Now that all of you understand how hardware and software work together; I have a final statement: I have just built a new computer and all is well. My newest system is :
AMD FX-62 2.8ghz
GForce 8500 GT
4gb ram 667
Seagate 500gb 10,000rpm 16mb-cache
Ultra-X 700watt SLI-ready
Vista-32bit Business(cannot turn down free software)
Maybe I will get into SLI, who knows, at least my hardware is ready..

So you use too much memory for a 32bit OS to handle? Good job. For 3+ gigs of RAM you need a 64 bit OS. I speak from experience, because I had to upgrade to 64bit Vista to use all the RAM I have.

Also, why not get a GOOD video card? the 8800GTS isn't expensive, and can easily be overclocked to be close to the GTX. Also, AMD is no longer the cool hip thing. Intel has better processors for lower prices.

You should have one or two smallish fast drives for the OS (I have 2x 74 gig 10k RPM raptors in a RAID-0) and games and a few big drives with your music, movies, tv shows, cd images, whatever spread out on them.
