Im on 4 star and havent faced him Unless hes the black one in the volcano ( havent beat him yet, waitn till i get better armour and defender/ Redwing)

No. He's blue in the Volcano. The quest is called "Smoke Clad King". It's the one that loves flying up and down.

Yeah, if he doesnt fly in to the middle of zone 7 (i think) dont follow him, just wait in zone 3, but make sure you kill the bufflango, after you kill them twice they will stop coming back.
