ive just activate my console but when i enter a cheat, nothing happens. i read a manual and it said to put in this.

    "C:\Program Files\Half-Life 2\hl2.exe" -console
    but mine has
    "F:\Program Files\Steam/Steam.exe" -console

i went back to the game and press "~" but nothing had appeared. so i went to my program files, copy and pasted this.

    "F:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\half-life 2\hl2.exe" -console

i went back onto the game again and press "~" and the console appeared. i typed in a cheat but nothing had happened. i tried entering "noclip" and nothing still happened. can anyone fix this problem?

Put something similar to this in:
    "E:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 220 -console
Due to the weird way that steam and half life work it has it set up that way.
Also, there should be a button in the keyboard options that is called advanced. It should bring up another, smaller dialog that has a check box for "developer's console" use that.

First of all, it doesn't have to be the E drive.
Second, it's where ever you installed it, it doesn't have in E, and neither does it have to be in program files. IT'S WHERE EVER YOU INSTALLED THE PROGRAM!

Ok I don't know if Kai helped you at all but anyway. all you need to do since your using steam is open steam and go to your games list right click on HL2, select games, select set launch options..., and type in -console. that will activate the developers console right when you open the game and everything should work from there.

Good idea, that's probably easier to understand. They need a thums-up smily
