i am at the part where you have to rescue penelo & i cant seem to get the hang of conquering judge ghis. everyone in my party is a level 14+, so is there a specific level i should be at?

I fought with Basch with a sword and gave Vaan a bow and Balthier with his gun, to keep them away from him. Put the strongest armor you have on Basch with protect. Put attack first on Basch's gambits and cure on anyone below 70% and both raise and phoenix downs then attack with the other two. If you can keep everyone over 50% healed you have a chance. I changed Balthier out with Ashe to heal once there was just the judge. Ashe with a bow. good luck.

When i faced him, I just put together 5 quicknings and then the inferno, then i had to attack him one and I won.

how do you do quickenings?

You get them on the license board. When you have them, you go to mist on the charecter you got it for, they have a quickning.
