use all 3 pit traps by combining + 3 lg barrel bomb will make his chest break which makes it soo easy I used poison battleaxe

Cool I did it thanks. I even defeated the "troublesome pair" (Rathian and Rathlos quest) On my first try O_O

I'm not even on the Gravios yet.
Although I do have the entire Yian Garuga armour and the Sentoryu great sword....how do I get the posion axe though? What weapon must I start out with?
