yeah many people do. but that doesnt mean that they would be in the running to become a mod

i dont think it would be that hard, but it might get boring after a while....at least thats wut i think has happened to the mods today

Well, the only authors (you have to be an author to be a mod..right?) that post a lot on the GD board is dstates, K.O.G and I.
I guess that's what you call an 'active member' one who posts a couple times a day or once a day.
But like I said earlier, we don't need mods who would just come on everyday and abuse their powers. We need mods who would do their jobs, like ES, Neo and Drugs.
wait loads of people are authors, and are active like me, i try to get on everyday, btu because there are so many topics lke this (spam) i don't post, if theres nothing good to post on, whats the point of posting?
