Once you get a prisition pistol,go to a command post and switch to any other unit.Whenever you be a guy with a pistol,he'll have a prisition pistol,even after 30 seconds are up,at least untill you die.

for clarification on that, its because you do not die when you switch units. A pistol is almost universal, so switching units means it is the same weapon, even switching between the blaster pistol and the commando pistol.
