I had my ps2 in 2001 and 3 years later my ps2 stopped reading up on my discs. The only discs my ps2 could read now were rated: E for everyone. It never reads the rated T for Teen and M for Mature games anymore so I went to best buy to get it fixed but the tech people were too lazy to get it fixed so they told me to just buy a new one. I was pi$$ed and they told me that if I buy a new ps2 and wait for the ps3, I could return my ps2 as a discount on the ps3 so I went ahead and got me a new one.

im so lucky, my ps2 is one of the oldest one. i got it before ne body really knew about it. well at least nobody knew it about it in south dakota lol. and i've saved wit over 3000 cheats on gta, i've dropped it alot, i've played it ALOT, and the only prob i had wit it is having the disc tray not shutting all the way, and that happened only once.

the problem is prolly something like what GokuTheGreat said. It happened to my first PS2, which im on my second. The thing about it is that the first few versions of the ps2 had plastic lenses, which eventually sort of wear out. then they came out with the PS2 Plus(+) that has a glass lens.
So what you need to do is pretty much get a new PS2 soon or wait for PS3, since i will guarantee that your PS2 will slowy get worse and stop playing alomst anything, which is what happened to mine.

Yo budd i see you got a litle problem with your game.Well i got some advice thas helped me time and time before, before you start your ps2, dont enter your disc.press triangle, and it should say browser or browser settings and it will say diagnosis.Put diagnosis on, and the laser will work 5 times harder and should speed up loading and such. ill look into it myself and try and get some help 4 ya although i havent encountered any disc errors .
