    Hey CH!

I've been trying to use the coSMOS easy version to scan the money addresses in a game I'm playing.

First scan finds plenty of addresses with the string (money was at 115). I then spent 5 in game, changed the "Scan Type" dropdown to "Reduced By" and entered 5 in the "Value" field to search.
As soon as I click on the Next Scan button all the memory addresses disappear from the address pane and leave me with 0 records?

So, I don't have any addresses remaining after first scan, I've tried this a few times this morning in case I was being stupid (which probability suggests, I am). But I can't find a way round this to give me any addresses past the first scan?

Any suggestions from those significantly more competent with this tool than me?

    Thanks

In principle it sounds correct what you are trying to do. However, it seems the value you want to change is different from what you are searching.

It could be different form of value. It seems you searched for an integer (a "whole" number). Maybe the money is stored as a floating point number? E.g. 115.0 or 115.00 instead of 115.
Have you tried changing the type of the value you are searching for?

Also, the value could be obfuscated. For example, it could be stored as 230 (2x115) or 11500 to make it harder to cheat or because the developer needs it in another form.
In that case you can search for an unknown value and in the second scan can filter for values that decreased to find the money after spending some of it. Admittedly that can necessitate multiple scans to find the value you are looking for, but it should find it eventually.

Thats a great shout, I hadn't considered alternative data type in terms of display (e.g. 115.00 instead of 115). I did try to run all the different value types from the dropdown menu in CoSMOS Basic. But I still searched for an integer instead of floating point or any other alternative.

Thanks man, I'll have a play about with that 👌
