I was able to edit the experience and level to max (100) in a mission. This did not stick post mission though.

Has anyone had success in permanently altering the XP?

There is second window of experience in character status.

The XP bar in mission looks like global experience (or in char screen mouse over your LEVEL).
The XP bar in character screen when in "ship command deck" counts on new level from 0 to some value.

But i didnt find the value for now ...

EDIT: When you look in mission briefing for mission LVL, found its value, change with tartot card to lvl 90, found that value and change it to for edxample 500, you will see HUGE EXP boost, BUT it will fix itself when mission starts...
