I agree in part -- I prefer more believable soldiering in present day conflicts/settings. I'd really like them to return to that kind of format with a good storyline but I guess they have to keep the kiddies entertained with newer and bigger explosions. I never did play multi. (Who wants to listen to a bunch of teenagers swearing and name calling?)
I think part of my attachment to the series is the earlier games were sooooo much fun. (COD 1, 2, 4.) Subsequent titles have become less engaging but still worth it if on sale. (I really enjoyed Black Ops 1, the Vietnam bits and the soundtrack were fun)
TOTALLY agree they have chintzed out on single player campaigns, I'm actually surprised they bother at all anymore. But all that said, the franchise still draws me. I keep hoping Captain Price will magically appear alongside Kevin Spacey . . .
Spoiler:
Ghosts 2, never heard anything about that.
What I'd really like is a title set in the middle east fighting ISIS. You could incorporate some blindsides in the story line with locals changing alliances and so on.
Ghosts ended with a cliffhanger but since Activision has 3 COD dev teams I guess it's a bit hard to predict which title will release next.
Regarding ISIS, that would pretty much be just another COD4 and/or Medal of Honor 2010 clone. I don't know, personally either go back to WW2 or just jump in the same boat as Halo and go full sci-fi. Modern/present day warfare theme has too many games.
No, haven't got that far yet. Uh oh, and I thought the shooting at cars/helicopter bit while jumping from bus to bus was hard . . .
Odd how some COD titles are fairly easy without cheats and other are hard as hell.
Oh boy, IIRC that's like the 2nd mission? If that was hard then you have quite a ride waiting for you.
Well, LordVen, you were right and the tank mission did me in. I suppose I could have toughed it out but it would have been necessary to re-start the entire mission and get the [expletive] tank back up to some semblance of health and grind it out from there. I'd been finding that the game was getting harder and harder with each mission -- always due to the stinkin' driving missions. It got old. I just wasn't willing to repeat segments over and over so that was the end of COD AW for me. (And there were even MORE driving missions ahead, as I discovered when I watched the RadBrad's playthroughs.) Sigh. I really do like the COD series but I fear that the later titles have become too hard for my clumsy reflexes. On to Black Ops II! (Please tell me there are no driving missions in that one)
