I am reading this game requires always online. Also, there appears to be no campaign and the only AI stuff is training with AI to do certain moves, etc.

the game unlocks very early in the morning.

we need someone to:

1) run steam offline mode and see if game launches
2) run game with internet unplugged and see if game launches
3) tell us if there is a single player campaign
4) tell us if there is anything single player that is offline that you can actually earn or do anything with

1) The game launches in Steam offline mode.
2) The game will launch and then run with the internet unplugged (it asks to start the game in offline mode at the main menu).
3) There is a single player campaign.
4) You cannot obtain any XP, or anything of the like, while in offline mode.

There is some single player stuff to do, yes.
Namely, unlocking costume colors requires you to best the Survival stages
so I guess infinite health or something could help with that.
Besides Survival, each character has a 4-fight story mode - but it seem to be set at
a default of "brainlessly easy" so I doubt anyone will struggle there.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I tried using CoSMOS whilst the game was running. The game exited out immediately.

I did this whilst online, as well as offline.

Maybe the protection works similarly to the Megaman Legacy Collection?
