Please note that this game is ON HOLD until further notice. It's patching daily and sometimes multiple times per day. When they can go a week or two without patching we will look at it again.

Perfectly understandable, thanks for your time. I will keep waiting. Great job PWizzard !!

My greetings and have a happy holidays!

    Semper!

Just exploring a scenario here, so bear with me. These alpha state games tend to update very frequently, so it really makes a lot of work with the trainers. The fact that steam doesn't allow you to select the version you want to play also mess with things.

So would it not be possible to do the following:
    1. Release an update for the title at fixed intervals ie 2 weeks or 1 month
    2. Set steam to only update on the launch of the game
    3. Follow the title and update the game once the trainer is released
    4. When you want to play it, disconnect your net connection, start steam in offline mode and play the title

Does anyone know if Steam flags a title that it need to update before launch even when in offline mode? Would steam allow you to launch a game in offline mode if it hasn't been updated for 2 - 3 weeks? Would it be possible to test this. If it works, it will slow the workload considerable for the devs and make it possible for us to get trainers for games that update too quickly. They would then be able to flag a trainer for periodic updates instead of on hold.

That would work great if you can convince the entire userbase to do it.

Yeah, that is sort of difficult. What I would suggest is to add that solution to the troubleshooting page with a step by step guide and drop a link it it on the cheat pages that you do on a rotating basis.

Should your game update in between because you didn't follow the steps, you have installed the game with the trainer out of date or missed an update cycle, you will just have to wait for the next one.

If you track the title, you get email notification as soon as it has been updated which should mostly give you 24 hours to update your game and trainer before an update kills it again, failing which you just need to wait two weeks or so and do it again.

At least then the game will be playable some time. At the moment some of the games will have crazy update cycles for 12 - 18 months, which would mean the trainer will in all probability not be updated any time soon.

It is a solution if things work as I think they do and steam does not flag the game to be updated and make it unplayable if its offline. Don't think this is the case though.

Seriously, no one can expect you guys to keep game trainers up to date with 5 patches or more in two weeks. Its just ridiculous. You're doing an awesome job as it is

Edit: Can also add it to the ext file accompanying the trainer, then it just become part on the instruction set you need to follow.

Hello all, I think your idea is absolutely on target for all released Alpha's! I enjoy the startup games but not so much high numbers of updates that drive our Host here crazy with cost vs. results for these low participation games. So I would welcome this as a solution but also would like to hear back from PWizard or the gang at Cheat Happens if they would also consider their users applying CR's to help in the noteworthy efforts of this fine group at CH?, to make gaming less troubling and more rewarding as it used to be back in the olden days.lol

As for Mcwidow, many thanks for starting a really meaningful and well thought out discussion. I hope this somehow continues to evolve a solution that works for us all!

ok..so instead of patience and understanding the fact that alpha games are under constant update and in turn putting certain out-of-control alpha games which update every 3 to 6 days to a point in these games being put on hold for that reason..you suggest that we do not update the games so that 1 trainer would be sufficient..granted it is an idea but it is not as thought out completely as you might think so for example ''myself'':

i play games offline in SP with use of trainer but i need to keep the games updated because i'm also part of a gaming community which loves to play coop, my pc is full of games that are or have been trough the A B and pre and all have been played by me and or community so the thought of me not updating would in my case be a no go..if need be i will wait for the game to be stable enough so a trainer can be made.

there's more then 1 type of trainer user so if you dont want to update a game because you only play the games on your own..then be my guest go for it some others might join you in that and some like myself cannot afford to do that because of reasons that we created by joining/leading a community of fellow gamers..if you have a better thought out idea i'll read it and provide you with either support or as in this case none.

There's two solutions (until fully auto-updating trainers):
