Did you click the "Buy Now" button so that you could see the actual price, minus the Steam Loyalty discount? Depending on how many games on Steam you own, this is not that expensive.

So, does this have a failsave in case you screw it up. Does the steam engine actually power the PC? As far as I know the current flow is pretty unstable in those things.

The description does state that Steam actually does power the unit instead of electricity.
The warnings that you are interested in are actually on the next page. When you click the "BUY NOW" link, it will give you the run down on safety things before it will actually let you buy the unit. It really is interest so take a look again.

This is epic. I think I will have to get one. It will be perfect for when I loose power because of a tropical storm. Although I don't think the wife would like the smell....
