It's only because they're giving you all the expansions as well. Plus the dev's said they're trying to keep people from buying the game not know what "alpha" means and then flooding the steam forums with hate.

Though now they're flooded with hate for it being $99.

The Beta state should begin end of april / early may, have to check the forum to be sure !
