I rented this game back when it came out for the PS3 and after about 15 minutes stopped playing it because of its infuriating controls. Now that it is on PC I was thinking of getting it from Stean. Only problem is I'm not sure if I will even like the game or not.

I heard the game is open world. Can I make decisions in the game that will affect my character or others or is the story pretty linear? I know people most like the game because of its characters but is that the only thing the game has going for it?

Jim Sterling did a pretty good let's play of it, that also highlighted a lot of the problems with the PC port. But there's a mod out that's supposed to fix a lot of the problems.
There don't seem to be any branching choices, and the plot is very Twin Peaks-esque.

I loved Alan Wake which I heard is supposed to be Twin Peaks like as well. Never saw Twin Peaks though.

It's not a good port especially the controls are awful but if you like these kind of games and you got a controller you may check this game out. But I recommend to watch some gameplay videos first.
