Here is a tip for the ones having Problems running the 32bit version of the game on a machine witn a 64bit operating system.

On a machine with a 64bit OS the game is going to run the 64bit version of the game by default, To run the 32 bit version of the game instead, DO the fallowing.

In your origin client go to the games tab, Right click on the battlefiel 4 picture, A menu should appear, click on game properties, In the next window click on the drop down menu and select Battlefield 4 (x86) click on the apply button and restart your origin client. Thats all Next time that you run the game it should start in 32bit no matter where you run it from.

Nice Trainer cal.

Thanks for the tip and the nice comments DDS

best,
Cal

I just wonder does not having W8 mean that it will run 32bit version? I'm sorry but all this about Battlefield 4 really is confusing me. Not about trainer but how it's run (the game)

If you use the trainer you cannot run the 64bit executable. The difference between them is drastic. You actually lose a lot of effects by using the 32bit version. It's unfortunate but within 10 minutes of starting the game I noticed lots of things simply removed from the game world when running 32bit, even when you have everything set to ultra. For example when you exit the school in the first campaign mission, you have some buildings in the distance with tarps hanging off of them flapping in the wind and birds flying around. In the 32bit version the tarps are gone and there are less birds.

If you have a 64bit OS you will be able to run the 64bit version, not just windows 8. However, as I mentioned if you use the trainer you get lower quality visuals which is very unfortunate. Since it seems decided that there will not be a 64bit trainer to allow us to play the x64 version of the game with the enhanced visuals and have inf ammo etc, I have no choice but to play without the trainer. Which is fine I guess. I just like being able to mess around with weapons and such.

wow... if you do a little digging you CAN alter the windows 32 bit graphics settings..

Go to the settings folder for the game:
(usually here)
C:\Users\(yourfolder)\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings

open the file:

PROFSAVE_profile

in a text editor.

Set:

GstRender.OverallGraphicsQuality 0

to

GstRender.OverallGraphicsQuality 5

Save it.

When you run the game you can now alter the graphics settings.

Christ... it's like people can't do a search or are helpless.

best,
Cal

Yet if you run ultra with the 32bit executable you still lose the extra visuals I mentioned. It's locked out of the 32bit version of the game entirely. It's not being helpless, it's being informed of the actual differences in the exe.

From an Operating System architecture standpoint, this does not make any kind of sense for the limitations you are describing. A 64 bit executable should not have a significant effect on graphics. The only real benefit for processing power is the increased throughput on the bus architecture but that's usually seen more on integrated graphics solutions that share system memory. Dedicated GPUs have their own on-board memory handled internally by the driver software installed on the system. The real advantage of x64 programs is to break the 4 GB upper limit of memory allocation that x32 programs can take up. Unless the game is taking up more memory than 4 GB, that increase in memory is not the cause of the graphical enhancements.

Caliber's post above mine further proves the point on how to manually override properties files that are the actual cause of the graphic limitations (not the x32 architecture).

They locked certain effects out of the 32bit executable. You can run them back to back at the spot I mentioned and even when you force ultra on the 32bit exe, it doesn't show the tarps. It's not that hard to understand this.

It's not about the OS or about memory, it's about DICE locking out visuals. Believe me I tried editing the settings to ultra and those effects are locked out.

That sounds like a design defect to me where the game's development team / release management are at fault, not us. You should send them that complaint.

Don't think you can consider it a design effect, there is a valid difference in x86 and x64, primarily with x86 you can run no more than 3GB of memory and often less than that, the game cannot use all of the memory in your system, so things do have to be scaled down no matter what you want.

Not saying I think its fair, or that they couldn't have worked around it, but the best of the best will be where the most memory can be used.

This is a pointless argument and has nothing to do with the trainer.

Here's what happens. Notice the lack of any cloth and tarps on the buildings. It's nobody's fault, it's DICE locking this little extra out.

My Settings

32bit executable

64bit executable

Yes it's off topic but my original point was it's unfortunate that we cannot get both the extra effects and the trainer. It's one or the other.

Was there an update? It seems the options are not working, at least for me they are not anymore. I went through reading here and Cal's post but everything is in order, I have the trainer in my BF4 install dir, even went and adjusted my Origin to launch the 32bit version of the game (I'm running 64 Win7) and launched campaign via battlelog.

However when in game I get the activation confirmation and also confirmation on key presses but none of the options are actively working, still taking damage, burning through ammo, unable to teleport etc.

I don't have any AV software on my PC and I am the administrator (with disabled UAC) so it's weird that this is happening. I hope I am not overlooking anything.

EDIT: I also noticed on occasion some enemy soldiers are unkillable, I still take damage with unlimited health on but some soldiers are affected, so in essence it does work... just not the way it was intended.

I think there may have been an update, trainer doesn't seem to work for me either, can anyone else confirm this?
