I am on Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, 2 trainers are giving me a message asking for a program to open a (*.TMP) file. BGEE editor is doing it at the moment, It is the steam version of BBEE and the message happens with the steam as well as the retail version. Once the message to find a program to open the file, the game stops, can get no further. BGEE runs fine, the game that is. NO antivirus, NO firewall, build is a basic and is 32 hours old. (FYI: The ages of empires 3 complete edition trainer also displays the same message. I have redowloaded them before posting, with no change. Anyone have any ideas, any help is appreciated

Right click on the file and select 'Run as admin'. This happens to you due to the UAC restriction. It's fixed by Caliber for newer trainers.

Right click run as admin on trainer anyways. Disable/uninstall all AV, firewall and other security software.

Like I said I did try it as well as the no firewall or antivirus, not just turned off but NOT INSTALLED. Admin selection as well as trying to run under windows 7 compatibility did nothing to change the error.

The only way to make this run is to specifically right click and run as administrator. Even with UAC off and other admin tricks, you will still need to right click and choose Run as Administrator.
Why would you turn UAC off? It causes more problems with it off than dealing with clicking Allow for UAC. I understood it in Vista, but there is no real reason to turn it off in Windows 7
For some reason, clicking the Always run as Administrator under the Comparability settings is not always the same.
