Ok,. this just strted yesterday. I plugged my corsair headphones in and the mic was on. Also the volume was full blast and even if I lowered it in the corsair panal it would slowly go back up to full volume. I closed everything and rebooted. Now, I can control the volume just fine. But...my mic is alwasys on. I unplugged my headphones, shut down my computer for the night and forgot about it.

Today I boot up my computer, I get a buzzing in my speakers. Apparrently, even though I don't have a mic other than my headset it's looking for a mic. So, I plug in my headset and the mic is on. I can't seem to turn it off..any ideas?

Control Panel -> Sounds -> Recording.

Disable or mute the port as you desire.

I've tried disabling everything here. Still get the static on my speakers or my mic is still on my headset. This started after installing saint's row 3 on steam. Do you think that may be an issue?

I looked where you mentioned at sounds and all last night and noticed it is checked that an application can take exclusive control of my recording devices. And this exclusive control overrides everything else. However even after uncliking exclusive control, my mic stays on.

Corsair Vengeance 1500 USB Connector Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset

I've had it for 7 monthes..no issues until last night. I'm thinking some program is forcing my mic on...even my mic mute button on the headset cord won't mute my mic which makes me think something is overrideing it.

    This: Link

Leads me to believe that it is a fairly common problem.

And it looks like Corsair's solution is to trade it in for a new one, which might very well have the same problem.

Hmm, I'm not getting a hissing on my headset...the hissing was on my GX gaming speakers. I thought that was because it was looking for a mic. My gaming speakers are hooked into the mic jack on my computer so you can hook a mic to the speaker panan.

I should clarify, I rebooted again and no hissing from my gaming speakers. I'm not getting a hissing on my headset though. I simply can't shut the mic off. The mic is on even if I disable it from the control panel. I have read about the hissing and feedback problem...I'm only picking up on background noice (ie TV, typing on the keyboard) no other noice. In fact, were it not for the background noice I wouldn't even realize my mic is on. I guess I'll just have to ignore it. Maybe it will fix itself. lol

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it further with corsair if it becomes more of an issue.
