    OK.. this is my first message here so i'm sorry for my english in advance.

    Someone mentioned if there is a possibility to change the items of the game..

    I found a way to actually do something really cool..

    i am not going to do a guide since i may by bad at this so just a few hints to get you started..:::

    IN your installation directory you can find ..

    \The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing\Cfg\ <-- folder.

    for items::
    go ... cfg/ARTIFACT/ - directory and open >> artifacts.cfg <<
    -what i did there was go through some items with the help of FIND command.. AND collected ENCHANTMENS and ADDED them to few other items EXAMPLE :

    if original was this::::::
    Artifact
    {
    Name=Pilgrims_Belt
    Icon=ov2
    LootModel=GeneralBelt
    Type=Armor
    SubType=Belt
    Rarity=epic
    MinLevel=23
    MaxLevel=30
    Value=8000
    Alchemy=15
    AlchemyPossible=1
    Enchantments=item_find_chanceUnique(value=25|25),hitpointsUnique(value=80|100)
    }

    for enchantmens i would add more... -collected from other items.. like this>>>>

    Artifact
    {
    Name=Pilgrims_Belt
    Icon=ov2
    LootModel=GeneralBelt
    Type=Armor
    SubType=Belt
    Rarity=epic
    MinLevel=23
    MaxLevel=30
    Value=8000
    Alchemy=15
    AlchemyPossible=1
    Enchantments=DamageAgainstBunny(value=2400|2400),damagebonus_percent_item_Unique(value=500|500),attribute_bonusUnique(value=500|500),fire_damagebonus_fixUnique(value=500|500;kill_soldier=500),lightning_damagebonus_fixUnique(value=5|5;kill_soldier=500),ice_damagebonus_fixUnique(value=5|5;kill_soldier=800),Comp_IncreaseLightningDamage(value=500|500),lightning_damagebonus_fixUnique(value=500|500),poison_damagebonus_fixUnique(value=500|500),physical_resistanceUnique(value=1000|1000;kill_soldier=1000),attack_ratebonus_percentUnique(value=500|500;damage_done=50000),item_find_chanceUnique(value=500|500),Viaszosvaszon(kill_soldier=500),alchemy_capacity_item_Unique(value=1000|1000),critical_hitUnique(value=500|500),hitpoints_per_levelUnique(value=500|500),speedbonus_percentUnique(value=100|100),mana_per_levelUnique(value=500|500),fire_damagebonus_fixUnique(value=500|500),elemental_resistanceUnique(value=1000|1000),increase_fire_damagebonus_percentUnique(value=500|500),arcane_damagebonus_fixUnique(value=500|500),ManaRegen(value=100|100),rageUnique(value=500|500),life_stealUnique(value=100|100),critical_damage_mulUnique(value=500|500),hp_per_hitUnique(value=100|100),damage_item_Unique(value=100|100;set=3),life_stealUnique(value=100|100),spellpowerUnique(value=500|500)
    }

    simply said... you just add more enchants to items and adjust their values >>> though NOTE THAT SOME VALUES ARE IN PERCENT and SOME IN ACTUAL NUMBERS<< depending on bonus itself.. (just play a little - make backups - if game loading crashes - you did something wrong..- i modified everything using notepad ++)

    FOR SKILLS,::
    yeah - you also CAN do something with them

    in game directory /cfg/SkillTree << find -->> skilltree.cfg
    open it and you'll find something beginning with::

    #Helsing (same goes for KATARINA- you just find her among the code lines there)
    helsing.skillcount=22
    helsing.rowcount=3
    helsing.row[0].levelreq=1
    helsing.row[0].maxlevel=200 (you can modify how many levels of this tier skills will have)
    helsing.row[1].levelreq=4
    helsing.row[1].maxlevel=300 (2nd tier of skills)
    helsing.row[2].levelreq=14
    helsing.row[2].maxlevel=500 (3rd tier of skills)
    (as you see these are modified already..)

    NOW THE MOST COOL THING I FOUD HERE EVER !!!!

    ESSENCES:::::

    find>> ~game dirr\cfg\artifact >> open ->> artifacts.cfg

    NOW... uding FIND command go with word ESSENCE and modify all essences there.. (you will notice their names so it's easy)

    EXAMPLE:

    original::
    Artifact
    {
    Name=Tainted_Essence (THIS WAS THE MOST COMMON FOR ME TO FIND INGAME by the way)
    Icon=tainted_essence
    LootModel=Essencebox
    Type=Component
    SubType=Component
    Rarity=normal
    Unique=1
    ComponentLevel=4
    MinLevel=12
    MaxLevel=30
    Value=50
    Alchemy=20 (>>>> THIS IS THE TRICK <<< DELETE THIS LINE !!! No alchemy means tthat the stones don't take enchantment capacity.., - THUS THIS LEADS TO UNLIMITED ENCHAAAANNNTING !!!)
    Stackable=100 (how much you can stack them up)
    Enchantments=Comp_PoisonDamage2,Comp_Hp2,Comp_Hp2
    }

    REMEMBER - MAKE BACKUPS.. AND DON'T COPY THESE CODES.. THEY're EXAMPLES.. YOU WILL MODIFY THEM YOURSELVES..,

    MAIN THING !!! >>>> CHANGED ITEMS WILL BE FOUND WHEN MOBS DROP THEM INGAME .. !!! NOT ALREADY OWNED ITEMS !!!
    Owned itmes and essences stay same... - your modified things will be found from new LOOT or DROPS (for essences - if you changed all essences in >>artifacts.cfg<< to have no alchemy but ingame you still have them with required capacity - >> you just simply FUSE them at alchemists for better essences - and those new generated essences also will become with no capacity.. < << my advise for making strong essence of one type.. try to use TAINTED ESSENCES for raising its QUALITY as they give more than other stones)

    These are some tips for you guys ..,
    play a little and you will get the idea.., all i did was open the needed files with notepad++ and then saved it.. nothing else..

    REMEMBER: moded things must be found from loot or drops.. only skill changed max levels will be visible if you modded them in skilltree.cfg file..

    I hope this helps a little..

    Nice, thanks for the info.

    Been playing around with this, wondering if you found anyplace that gives more skill points on level up or not.

    PUSH IT UP

    One question: any idea on how to mod the level requirements for the items?

    I've tried editing "MinLevel=xx / MaxLevel=xx / Requirements=level(xx)" - none works.

    /e: hmm, it seems that every change I make has no effect on the game. Have they changed something with these patches lately?

    thanks for this! With no trainer I just want to add more gold and a God mode. Which config folder has this? I'm all backed up and ready to have at it. Your instructions were a bit confusing, maybe make a guide with examples that are easier for us old *****'s to understand due to dry brains. thanks for caring

    Go into your steam folder where the game is.
    Usually it is c:\program files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing\Cfg\Artifact

    The file in that folder you want to open with Notepad is artifacts.cfg

    Once the file is open with notepad, then do a "Find" (Edit menu) for the word Absorbent_Essence.
    This will take you to the Absorbent Essence artifact.

    The information for the Absorbent Essence artifact will look something like this:

    Name=Absorbent_Essence
    Icon=absorbent_essence
    LootModel=Essencebox
    Type=Component
    SubType=Component
    Rarity=normal
    ComponentLevel=3
    MinLevel=16
    MaxLevel=30
    Value=500
    Stackable=10
    Alchemy=1
    Enchantments=Comp_CriticalHit,Comp_Willpower_advanced,Comp_Cooldown

    What the opening post was saying, is you can delete the "Alchemy=10" or whatever the number is. This specifies how much each essence is taken when being added to armour or weapons. If you are unsure about making a deletion, you can just edit the number to a "1", exactly like I did above. You will notice the number next to Alchemy in yours is not exactly like mine. I have already changed mine to 1. This means, each Absorbent Essence will take only 1 point away when being added.

    Now, go down the list to each section below the absorbent Essence and change them to 1. So the section below the Absorbent Essence is Corporeal Essence. Find the Alchemy value in that, and change it to 1. Or delete the whole line as the opening post suggested to make it unlimited. Just keep going down the list of essences now until you get to the healing potions. I think that is where the essences stop. Change them all to 1.

    Hopefully that makes it easier?

    EDIT: I noticed later that I missed some essences out, so possibly just do a search for "essence", and go down the whole list searching.

    I must admit I discovered this topic only after farming a lot of essences. So I had a few stacks already. That was about two days of farming, so I felt a bit unhappy about losing all those stacks. Especially if some are quite a rare pickup.

    To overcome this, I have done this:

    1. Make the changes to the artifacts.cfg file suggested by the opening post.

    2. Move all your existing essences to Katarina. This is just to make it easier later which I will explain.

    3. Go out to the Dreadworks Main Square Inkway and farm around that area. I usually just go out the inkgate, and then go either left or right, and make my way around full circle back to the inkgate. This area has a high number of essence drops. The boss to the right of the inkgate also often drops green sets. Once you get back to the inkgate go to your secret lair and check the shopkeeper for purchase of any essences. I have found a few here that hardly ever drop from monsters. Now exit to the menu and go back in. Do the same thing again and just keep farming.
    Any essences you pick up should be the new edited ones.

    4. Now go to your secret lair. Go to Dr Dampf (laboratory) just above your inkgate.
    Look for any of the new essences you have picked up, and check to see which ones of the old ones you have. As I mentioned previously, the old ones with their normal higher essence value should be in Katarina's storage. So you will have the old essences on the left (in Katarina's storage), and your newly obtained ones on the right in your inventory.

    5. Now add any modifiable armour or weapon to the Enchant Item section in the lab. Add a single old essence to the lab modifier, and click to enchant it.

    6. Once it is modified, take the same armour or weapon, and disenchant it.
    IMPORTANT: When you disenchant it, you MUST have a new essence in your inventory with the new low essence capacity value. When you disenchant, the item and essence will be added back to your inventory. The old essence will be added to the new essence stack, and its capacity value will change to the new one. Now you can use your old ones as well! If you don't have the same essence with the new value in your inventory, then the old value will remain.

    Once you have at least one of the new capacity essences, then you can convert all your old ones following this method.

    7. Another method is to combine some essences. To get some of the more difficult essences, it can take quite a while. For example, you may take ages to get the "1% Chance Critical Hit" for weapons (Absorbent Essence). You can take two of your old normal value essences, the "Vaporous Essence", and "Essence of Fortitude", and combine them in the lab. Once they combine, a new essence will be created with the new capacity value.

    [Edited by snobeee, 1/7/2014 9:26:23 AM]

    EDIT: If you combine two essences or pickup one, and the old value remains, it is likely due to you not editing it in the artifacts.cfg file.

    [Edited by snobeee, 1/7/2014 9:45:46 AM]

    EDIT2: I have found something interesting for point 6 above. I have noticed there is no need to "convert" all your old capacity essences to a new value. Once you have a new capacity essence added or enchanted onto a weapon or armour, then you can add old capacity essences to that item, and it will only take the capacity of your new setting. So you must have used a new capacity essence as the old one in the armour or weapon first. Hope this makes sense?
