As the topic says Skyrim 1.9 beta available right click on Skyrim in Steam library, select properties go to Beta tab and select beta from drop down menu
Do you know if this update affects existing game saves or does
this apply to new games exclusively?

It hasn't affected my saves so it should work fine however i run my Skyrim Heavily modded with various mods like Blaze of Eventide, Book of Silence by AmidianBorn and Skyrim Spells and powers by WarriorKeKe as well as Frostfall to name but a few many of them need SKSE work which so far is only patched to 1.8.151
Just don't expect a trainer for beta version.
Not to worry Pwizzard I'm more than happy to wait till the full 1.9 patch before a trainer is released as you guys do such stellar work just figured I'd give the Skyrim players on here the heads up as i got notice From the SkyrimNexus site and I know a few players who dont use it.

I'm also using lots of mods but I wasn't afraid of the update interfering with them. I was actually looking forward to a fix of lots of dead quests. Read that some of these should have been fixed and was wondering if existing saves are inlcuded or if you'd have to start a new game to see the fixes work (e.g. as in King's Bounty Warriors of the North only affecting New games).

Cant say for certain as i hadn't encountered any bugs on the quests it says the patch fixes though i have had no more CTD's touch wood the only quest I have ever had issue with is Parthurnax in that unless you killed him you could finish the blades raiant quests but if you killed him the greybeards would no longer help you find the word walls but that was fixed with a mod that allowed you to tell Delphine that the blades oath of loyalty to the Dragonborn is more important than her oath of Vengence on Parthurnax which is now void because you have decided to let him live so the Dragonborn can now let Parthurnax live which keeps the Greybeards happy and helping you find the word walls while also allowing you to do the blades radiant quests
