Disney has announced they have purchased LucasFilm Ltd. from George Lucas for $4.05 billion. The deal includes the video game publisher LucasArts, as well as everything LucasFilm owns. This includes the rights to the Star Wars franchise, Industrial Light & Magic, Skywalker Sound, and the rights to Indiana Jones franchise. Also announced was a new Star Wars trilogy, starting with Episode 7 coming out in 2015.

Although i am optimistic as a star wars fan that Disney will do the franchise justice, a small part of me fears that this may be the final stoop and lead to the demise of the franchise.

I am much more interested in LucasArts (the gaming end of the SW franchise) than the future films, and i hope that Disney acquisition of the franchise will give the star wars game fans what they want most of all, KOTOR 3!!, and while their at it, how about Battlefront 3?

"We're likely to focus more on social and mobile than we are on console. We'll look opportunistically at console, most likely in licensing rather than publishing, but we think that given the nature of these characters and how well known they are, and the storytelling, that they lend themselves quite nicely, as they've already demonstrated to the other platforms." -Disney CEO Robert Iger

Hopefully, a studio like Bioware will step up and acquire a license through Disney to make KOTOR 3. I can just imagine it now, a kotor game with mass effect engine and graphics!

share your opinion on this while i wipe the drool from my keyboard.

Me,being one of the biggest Star Wars fans,do not like Disney taking over EVERYTHING. First,Marvel. Now Star Wars.
I watched the original Star Wars in the movie theatre with my dad in 1977.(The Arlington theatre,as a matter of fact)

The orginal story was supposed to be about Anakin Skywalkers fall and redemption. George Lucas was not supposed to make any more.yes,i know Disney made The Avengers.Great Movie.I loved it.
But,that's one movie.
I just think movie-wise it's going to be a Tim Burton Crap-fest.They might as well get Micheal Bay to direct the new Star Wars trilogy.

I of all people would love to see new SW movies, but not this way. As for gaming/consoles,i have to say my curiosity is peaked.I would love to see a KOTOR 3.
