As long as the trainer you have works for the game, you can use that trainer. What you have to do is go is start game and activate trainer as usual. Then while you are on Base screen, ALT+TAB to desktop. Then ALT+TAB back to game, now press 9 and click on any tab (i.e. Engineering/Research) and money will rise. Hope that helps.

You don't need to save/reload (can't do this in an Ironman game anyway). just go into one of the rooms - i.e. click on Research or Engineering or something. When you come out, the money will be there. You can press 9 in the room, or at the main base screen, doesn't matter. The money will update basically once you do something other than stare at the main base screen.
