So, just got myself a copy of this on steam, can honestly say i was shocked to see that we are unable to map the arrow keys on a keyboard.
I know this is down to personal preference mostly, but surfing online i can see it seems to be an issue for a fair few people. (even on the steam forums, but surprise surprise, that had allready degenerated in to a flame war by the second post).
How do you guys all feel about this? I really dislike being forced in to either using the WASD keys or re-mapping to use numpad.
Big R....hang in there and the game will really grow on ya to the point where remapping won't matter very much. I didn't think this game would amount to much, but boy was I wrong cause it's a blast to play.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's all in the......whoops!
I just have a massive problem with not being able to use the arrow keys. I know some left handed people can do it, but i just cant sit with it. I am considering a game pad but i have seen some questionable issues with them as well =/
Depends on the gamepad. If you're using an older one that isn't fully supported by Windows 7 (In other words anything that is not an xbox controller or a variant of it) then it will have issues. If you have a gamepad that you can remap buttons to corresponding keyboard and mouse functions with external software, your results will be even better.
A good example would be something like XPadder for remapping the xbox controller. You can assign buttons to keyboard functions and if you have the control scheme in Sleeping Dogs setup to 'hot swap' you can actually eliminate a lot of the complaints with using a controller. On top of that, with 1.7 they just added the ability to 'lock on' with guns so you don't have any aim issues now.
It was probably a console port and the devs were too lazy to configure it for the PC.
