let me try to explain how this saves structure works

In case of darksiders 2 saves are kept in 2 places.

1 in C:\Users\your user name\Documents\my games\Darksiders2\English
English beeing the folder if your language is english

and 1 in c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\41793200\50650\remote
That is if you are using steamcloud

When you start a game the first time it tells you to save game
which normally is in the First slot you see in game
At that time 2 saves are made.
Dssave0.dsav and dssave4.dsav
Both have the same timestamp
As soon as the game does a autosave, it saves it in dssave0.dsav
The next time the game autosaves again it does it in dssave4.dsav
And this roulates all the time, with autosaves , between those 2 saves.
Both files at that time have a different timestamp, and game always loads the save game with the latest timestamp.

Now when you exit the game those 2 save files are copied by means of steamcloud to the remote steam folder on your computer.

Now in case one of the saves is corrupted, lets assume its dssave0.dsav, it loads game from dssave4.dsav, which also sets you back a little in the game itself, depending where it happend.
If in case both files are corrupted, and you exited the game then also the remote files are corrupted, if i am not mistaken.
IF thats not the case you could copy the remote saves back to
C:\Users\your user name\Documents\my games\Darksiders2\English

The way the save slots work:

There are 4 different save slots in game
every slot has its own game,
slot 1 uses dssave0.dsav and dssave4.dsav
slot 2 uses dssave1.dsav and dssave5.dsav
slot 3 uses dssave2.dsav and dssave6.dsav
slot 4 uses dssave3.dsav and dssave7.dsav

Thanks to Ashrak for posting the fix, worked like a charm.

Unfortunatly I cannot use the save at all, on the save selection screen it says that the save uses previously installed DLC and is unusable :0

Anyone had a similar problem?

I tried this and is still corrupted.Hope cheathappens staff will find a sollution they are the best
