Muslims have an Islamic Calendar, it's called the Hijri calendar and it's a Lunar Calendar
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_calendar
Ramadan is the 9th month, and the reason it comes closer a little bit every year is because the way we know Ramadan has started is when the first crescent of a new moon is sighted.
the Reason Muslims fast during Ramadan is to remind people what Poor people experience when they feel hungry but have no food.
the main reason is to remind people to Give whenever they can, Money if they're capable, or at least Food, to those who need it.
it also reminds us how lucky and blessed we are, and that we should thank god for what we have instead of nitpicking on what we don't have.
i hope i covered most of it, and Ramadan Mubarak(Blessed) to all of you
Ah, thank you!
One of the boys in my training group also explained it as being a test of willpower and resolve, and that he feels strong for doing it. I have to say I admire anyone who can fast for most of the day, especially in the middle of summer.
Five people in my training group at work are fasting, so our trainer ended up banning food in the training room for their sakes. Respect, and all that.
Actually, I have been wondering: How come it changes dates? Isn't it usually around September?
Much respect to your trainer, reminds me of a story 4 years ago, most of my classmates decided to eat during daytime in Ramadan, but I didn't do it, and my christian classmate didn't do it in front of me.
