Whimysyshire drops lot of gold, and is good xp. I'm farming this in Inferno right now, getting 1+ million gold items and piles of gold anywhere from 600-1200 all over the place. That being said, you have to spend a pretty decent amount of gold to unlock this, not to mention find all the pieces required to make the staff, so it's a trade-off you have to be willing to make.
Act 4 first level still gives decent exp. Also Act 1 in that town that is on fire, I forget the name. this one gives you about 100k xp per run on Hell.
i have the staff made for normal saving up the gold for nightmare staff not to mention i gotta make it through nightmare im getting beasted on right now at lvl 45 act 3... need to upgrade my gear badly lvl 15 stuff just isnt cutting it but getting **** drops nothing worth putting on auction house stats on the things are useless :/

Hah! my friends rushed through normal to hell saying "We need a challenge, can't wait for Inferno..." After getting wiped by elite mobs in Act I, they quit and rerolled another class saying, "Inferno is too hard, I'm tired and want to relax."
I'm still in the middle of normal mode (act 3). It's rediculously easy. I think my health hasn't gone under 50% yet.
depending on what character your playing wait till nightmare and as for no matter what character play hell and inferno gaurantee you a few armor repair bills
