Thank you for your response. I understand there is a small number of users with the problem in comparison to the entire userbase, but a repeated problem for multiple people would indicate to me some problem with the customizer. That might just be me being ignorant, however it is frustrating to follow the advice to "fix" something and have it not be fixed. In addition, the customizer worked for me briefly today as I was trying again to customize a trainer, but before I could finish it went back to flashing 255 in the middle of me changing things. I had over 8 keys set before this happened and did nothing between when it was working and when it stopped, it just suddenly stopped working. Kind of bafcheathappens.
Are you saying there is no recourse for me and I should just resign myself that my membership is useless for now?

If it was a problem with the customizer, the problem would be universal. You stated laptop and there is more than likely driver software that your laptop manufacturer has bundled with your laptop that is interfering with the software. Is this true or not we don't know because we do not have access to your laptop to test it out for you methodically.
This is why we need you to go through these troubleshooting steps and keep a log of exactly what you did to resolve the problem and the end result of that action (any reaction and if so what). Troubleshooting is a teardown of isolating the problem to what it could possibly be because "crashing" and "not working" are like "coughing" and "sneezing" in symptoms towards illness (90% of ailments have those symptoms).

if you are saying that you cannot use the normal/default keys selected for you by the trainer, and that your only computer to use is the notebook that has issues with our customizier, and that you cannot use the trainers without customizing the keys, and the customizer won't work for you, then i guess yes you will need to resolve to the fact that our trainers won't work in your isolated instance, since we have no way to 'fix' this for you. keep in mind that we are the only trainer makers that even (likely) have a customizer available for our users.
