The only thing that bothers me some about the ending is how my squad got back to the Normandy in the middle of a battle and why the Normandy is running away. Joker would never do that.

I commented on this a couple of pages back. He's probably just trying to escape a big-ass explosive shock wave gaining on the ship.

I imagine when the Citadel started exploding, or doing whatever it was doing, Hackett would have ordered the remaining fleet to pull back out of range.

Or Hackett gave them a secret order.
Or EDI's self-preservation instinct kicked in.
Or they were loosing so the fleet dispersed.
    Or ...

By the way in regard to your answer, where is the rest of the fleet? Just an idle thought.

Also do you guys think that BioWare is trying to redesign itself from their RPG (and story driven) roots into a company that make "modern", "current" games? And/or is this something that happened with Coca Cola and their New Coke in the past?

    C'est la vie.

Could be but it is not answered. The Normandy was on Earth, so it would have had to fly off the planet, through a major battle to the Sol relay at the edge of the system. All during the time Shep is talking to the citadel child you can see the fleets still engaged in battle. Now from the time Shep makes his decision there is hardly any time between the burst from the station. It also does not explain how your squad magically appeared on the Normandy, even your squad members that were supposed to be fighting right next to you.

Maybe the DLC will explain this

If you remember back, you'll hear Joker saying he's taking the Normandy back up to join Sword, fighting in orbit, after he drops Shepard and the team off.

The real question I have is how does every living being escape the explosion of the relays? I mean, we know from Arrival that destroying a relay will wipe out a solar system. Surely destroying every relay in the galaxy will kill a whole ****-tonne of people, including Earth and the fleets surrounding it.

As for the fleet itself, well, that depends on how many losses were suffered. We know they weren't doing well, but we're not told just how many have actually made it that far. However, personally, I think that, no matter what you think of the ending, they definitely cheaped out on the sequence. Not showing the rest of the combined fleets could just have been a time/money saving issue. Or they felt it wasn't important to show- that we'd be more interested in the fate of the Normandy, rather than unnamed ships.

To be perfectly honest, no one can actually answer these questions. No matter what we say, or discuss, or contradict, the simple fact is that it all boils down to opinion and speculation, mixed with a little hope. The only people who really know are the people who wrote it, and they're keeping quiet for the moment.

I agree that the endings were terrible and had me gutted. They seriously needed to put more detail as the series deserved a grand ending. But what they came up with was an abrupt one which only has place in games with low budgets.

I am not saying ME3 is bad though...It was about to become one of my favorite games until I finished it.

what i can't understand is: y fix something that's not broken. Mass Effect 2 was clean and neat even with a string of DLCs released inbetween. to me...it appears...they tried doing a bit too much with Mass Effect 3..trying to please everyone. Action-Role Play-Story...wtf. i think this is the crux of the problem. so much of ambiguity. maybe it was accidental....maybe it had a purpose i don't know.

It's not the statement people were expecting, but they've obviously taken note of the situation.

I think the whole charity role in the petition is downright wrong. They're basically blackmailing people who wouldn't normally give money to the charity. It may not specifically say "give money to get a new ending" but I can guarantee almost every person giving money will expect their money to get them a new ending. They're not giving to charity, they're giving to get themselves what they want. If no new ending is released, most of them will regret giving their money*.
