I'm running on Windows 7 and when I run the Mass Effect 1 trainer for version 1.2 (i had to patch the game to run it on Win7), the trainer runs for about 30 seconds and then shuts down. I've tried compatibility modes and nothing seems to be working... any help on this would be great...

What platform is your game for? (Retail, Origins, Steam, etc)

Oh, sorry- it's for the retail version.

You need to check your computer environment and configure your security software properly. Please see the troubleshooting guide for how to troubleshoot this and your AV documentation on how to properly configure your software.

Thanks!
edit: I did everything on the troubleshooting page, but no dice... I know it's 1.02, because the game wouldn't run on Windows 7 without the patch...

You'll have to provide further details case by case with every step you did in the troubleshooting guide and the end result for us to be of any further assistance. We cannot do anything without information.

If I run it alone- with no permissions, I get a quick flash. It pops up and then disappears. If I turn on "Run as Administrator", I get the trainer up for about 30 seconds before it shuts itself down. And I can keep bringing it up as well, only for it to shut down 30 seconds later. If I put any kind of compatibility mode on, it will run for about 30 seconds and then refuses to come back up at all.
In addition to this, I have also entered a permission into Avast! (antivirus) to allow the trainer to run... I don't know what else I can do as this is a brand new computer. I'm still getting used to Windows 7...

Completely uninstall Avast, reboot and then try it (running as admin).
