Been a while now since the 2614 patch was released (Retail User) and i'm thinking 2614 was/is a retail exclusive patch but have no idea what was updated since no changelog was posted for it. Hopefully the next patch (if there will be one) released is a retail/steam combined patch (identical version numbers).
Starting to miss the "trainer activated" voice at the main menu XD. BRING OUT THE NEXT UPDATE R*!!!!

The reply from R* support. Brad L, Jul 03 07:19 pm (EDT): Hello,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
2614 and 2613 are build numbers, not version numbers. The retail version should always have a different build number than the Steam version, because they will have slightly different files embedded with them. The one build is not more updated than the other, they are just different numbers.
For clarity: Steam build is currently at 2613. Retail build is at 2614. These are the same game, with slightly different files for slightly different start-ups.
Previous posts have tried to make this clear.
If you have these builds and the newest trainer and it does not activate at the main menu, run the trainer as an administrator. The reason for this is some games will block keystrokes to programs that are not run as an administrator, and also some programs in the background will not sense keystrokes unless they are run as an administrator.
I have encountered this error with a few games. For example, while running SWTOR, you must run Ventrilo in administrator to use push-to-talk keys. SWTOR is one of many games that block keystrokes to keep background programs from interfering with the game. L.A. Noire is apparently one of them as well.
I run the Steam version 1.3, build 2613, on 64-bit Windows 7, with the trainer running as an administrator, and the trainer options all work fine.
