I too am having trouble with driving part of this game. I am a bit dissapointed with ID on this one. I don't buy driving games for a good reason: I stink at them and don't have the gear that makes them easy to play. Driving games just don't work that well with a keyboard. I had thought this was a pure FPS. Guess I didn't read the fine print. Guess I'll just have to keep banging away at it until I get totally frustrated and stop playing it.
rick, I'm the world's worst driver...listen to some of these folks advice and keep trying. I got past the caprino race finally....the game is so much fun. Now I have the monarch, what a car! Hang in there bud, you're not alone.

we are in the same boat rick. As a senior citizen, fingers movement is very much rock-like not as nimble as the younger members here.
Even with the unlimited driving certificates option, the Cuprino is till out of my reach.
You all should invent 15$ at a local game stop or the like for a used wired xbox 360 controller. I generally play FPS games with key board and mouse, but with games like this is simply easier with a controller ( especially for the racing/combat parts, makes it immensely more enjoyable )

oh yes..the Monarch is one mean monster. its a monster garage kinda car. i felt it was easier to win the Monarch than it was to win the Cuprino. the AI was so silly...i mean i because a bit over confident going into that race and went into a turn really hard causing my car to drift and it took me a wee bit longer than usual to correct my drift giving the AI enough time to close in and over take me but after a really good boost i left him in the dust and he never over-took me again. it was that easy.

i was in hear zapping out i couldnt beat the dam race for nothing an i was up most of the nite tryna bea it and couldnt guess what my girlfriend came over and did it a few time and beat the dam race im like wtf woooow but i got the car an made sure i saved it thinks to her yeaaaaa i can go on to bustn more mutants butts to her woooo
I realise that I am not alone in finding the races difficult. I just cannot win the Cuprino race. I have tried it so many times. It has spoiled the game for me because i cannot cintinue! I hope someone can make a trainer that will help or a console cheat or a savegame.
