After playing a little of the "great" space marines warhammer game, I just wanna say...Dead Island ROCKS. I thoroughly enjoyed this game, great fun. What do you folks think as compared to space marines???

I played a bit of space marines a few days ago, and whislt its fun, i hate the fact there is no dismemberment. I dont get why a game that doesnt have a problem with splattering the place with blood cant have descent dismemberment. Thats why i love dead island, mobs react accoringly when you attack them.

I assumed when i was using my chainsword on an ork that it would chop them in half, and at first i thought that was happening, with so much blood splattering my armor, but after the action stopped, theres no sign of anything on the bodies, it jsut looks like they fell down, and went to sleep.

...compared to Space Marines i'd say this is one hell of a buggy and poorly executed game. i loved Space Marines...Dead Island not so much.

i enjoy BOTH games. both games have their own pro's and con's. but comparing them both is like trying to compare half life and dead space.
Since there are people who give me crap for my grammar and is to lazy to check my profile I will say it here as well. I am dyslexic so give me a break as I *TRY* to spell correctly.

yea i guess comparisons r mostly onerous. both obviously have their pros and cons but since a comparison was made i thought i'd express my opinion on which i enjoyed most, which obviously doesn't make the least liked necessarily a bad game.

think they only got compared casue they both came out the same day. And they are both very bloody games, lots of killing.

Yeah, i love hearing the screams of agony as zombies/humans burn to death, or hacking off or sometiems breakign the arms of zombies, and watch them try and bite you to death, thats fun too.

Space Marines is a bit more linear than similar games (Darksiders and Gears of War come to mind) but for the kind of game it is, i find it enthralling. It's very cool to just be thrown into the whole WH40k universe, mythos and all.

I just started playing DI, and it seems very....sticky, i guess. Not nearly as fluidic as SM. I understand the desire to satisfy the genre-lovers need for realism, but it seems there's just too much in his actions. Playing as Sam B right now since he had the most speed and hp. I do like that they added something that Dead rising never had--attributes and upgradeable permanency through skills.

That aside, I prefer space marine for right now, but I haven't been playing DI for very long yet. this may change.
