It was a rumour back last year that Gothic 5, codenamed Aeternus, would be 500 years later than Gothic 4 and supposedly you would fight against different dimension beings and the game would try to be Mass Effect like.

Many facepalms back then.

Apparently this is the case and that is what they are planning for next year.

Jowood you have officially went loopy.

But on a side note... Risen 2 will be coming soon too, Titans ahoy

I thought Jowood went under YEARS ago...

The declared Bankruptcy last year, but technically they are still operating.

Hmm, I've yet to play the Gothic series but it sounds to me like Gothic 5 will be something like Assassins Creed but in reverse. Who knows, maybe it'll be the excuse I've been waiting for to begin playing Gothic titles.

Quite sad what Jowood is doing at the moment. I still remember how damn excited I was with playing Aquanox about 50 years ago on my GeForce4 TI4200 (I think), cause there was just no other game like it. And there's still none if I'm not mistaken.

But it's about Gothic here, which I never played, so I'll stop writing now.

They're officially down the drain now. No one even knows if the planned (and partially completed) expansion to Arcania will be released. But that premise for Gothic V is just plain wacky.

Unfortunately, people seem to think that Jowood going under is good news, since they've made some admittedly balls-up games recently... but at the same time, they seem to miss the main point that its a helluva lot of tallented designers and other people out of a job.

Risen 2 is one I'm waiting for though. Though I'm wondering what's the deal with the Pirates direction some dev's are suddenly going in... it's almost like a bandwagon.

Riven was full of pirates lore. Remember the grave digging? lol

Forgot about that <.< Well, still, it's a dramatic change from the overall feel of the first game. I didn't play it through thinking "What this game needs is more pirates". I barely thought about Pirates at all really.

Then again, it's been a while since I played it... maybe time to dust the old gal off.
