Hello, I need some advice about upgrading and i just figured my CH members could help. i've been mulling this over for 3 weeks now and i dont know what to do. Maybe you other members can give some advice to another gamer.

    Well currently i have
CPU- Core Duo 8500e Wolfdale 3.16 MHZ FAC, Currently 3.767 OC water cooled
GPU- Dual water cooled 8800 gtx FAC clocks 576 core, 900 Mem Clck, 1350 Shade Clck, OC to 621/1053,1512
    MOBO- EVGA 680i SLI
    OPERSYS-Vista 64
RAM-8 Gigs Corsair Dominator 10000-c5df Sli ready ddr2 4 dual sticks 1250 MHZ FAC, OC to 1333 max of my FSB
PS- PSU 1300 watt Power supply

This system has really been great to me, ive never had a problem playing games at good framerates. I've spent alot of money on my rig, and its been roughly 14 months now that DX11 gpus have been out. I held off the 200 gpu's, the 400 gpu's waiting for at least a triple bump in performance before i upgraded. I've been saving for roughly 2 and a half years now to build another rig. I have two setups im really split between.

    1st setup
    CPU- I7 990x Extreme
GPU- Dual 580 gtx in sli
MOBO- either 790i or Evga X58 4 way board
    Ram- Corsair dominator DDR3 ram
    OPS-Win 7 64

    or

    2nd setup
    CPU- I7 990x EXtreme
GPU- Dual water cooled Classified 590 GTX
    MOBO- Asus rampage 3 Black, 790sli, X58 EVGA 4way
    RAM-CORSAIR dominator ddr3 ram
    OPS-Win 7 64

Ive been saving for years and i havent upgraded anything since i bought that last ram kit for my current rig. Please comment on what you guys and/or girls think is the best setup here. Thanks

Wait until June when new CPUs will come out.
Trust is a fragile thing. Once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Those we're closest to can betray us,and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

Don't get the 590. You won't be able to overclock it and there's a good chance it'll explode in your face.

Also, the 990x won't go in a 790i board. Wrong socket.

personally i prefer AMD for processors, but then you have to go ATI for video cards.
