I've never liked playing games on a laptop. The awkward extra mouse without a desk, the tightly placed buttons of the keyboard, and the battery life. To each his own, I guess.

I actually have a keyboard, mouse, and proper monitor so I can simply dock my laptop and my workspace becomes similar to a desktop. Still this laptop doesn't have a whole lot of ability so only a few games are playable on it. Then again, I don't play too many games outside of StarCraft and WarCraft 3.
But when I reduce the power of my laptop that's sufficient for office work and web browsing, the battery life goes up to like 8 hours which is excellent for school work (one of the main reasons I got a laptop in the first place). My laptop has Hybrid Graphics in that I can turn off my nVidia card and rely on integrated graphics for a huge boost in battery life.
Also Windows Aero comes standard in Home Premium.

And remade it to behave like the older version of Windows. Now it looks all classic and I now have 4 hours on max power settings (the one that's supposed to trash my battery life). That's 4 hours I can play StarCraft 2 without plugging in.
is it okay for me to ask how u did that? 'cause all my systems came pre-loaded with win7...for the desktops its not an issue but i'd love to improve my battery time for my laptop.
The Aero feature takes a little bit resource from your graphic card, which is why laptops don't stay very long if you have it turn on. I turned off mine when I first bought this laptop I'm using now.

yea...with the aero features on and the card being on...the laptop back-up really tanks. now that i've turned off the aero i have seen some improvement in back-up...but ofcourse if i'm playing a game under full 3D load..doesn't do much for my back-up.
