I'm just now switching to Microsoft Security Essentials, and I'd like some help navigating the settings. I've pretty much figured out how to whitelist my Trainers folder from scheduled scans, but I'm having trouble locating the thing that temporarily disables execution scans. You know, the thing that automatically quarantines a program when you run it?
I've seen the "Exclude Processes" thing, is that it? Do I just manually add the trainer executables to that list, and I'll be able to run them without a problem?

I have never had trouble with Essentials with using trainers it always allows them and says they are safe, but myguess is that is what you would do to exclude them.

I never had to add any exclusions and all of the CH trainers run fine with it.

You cannot add something to MSE's exception list until it actually detects a threat. MSE does not automatically remove files when it detects them as a threat. Instead it suspends the file and displays a window about the threat. From there you can fully delete the file or choose to allow it (which lifts the suspension and adds it to the exception list).
This is Microsoft's way to give users the ability to override their AV in case it is detecting a program that doesn't mean harm.
