Android and Iphone

Hey guys! I in consideration in buying a smart phone(I think that is what they are called) but I'm a complete noob when it comes to these things as the phone I've had for the last 6 to 7 years doesn't even have colour.

So basically what is the differences,

In terms of variety of apps? Educational, Mainstream games, games the other doesn't but are awesome, etc.

In terms of capabilities of the actual phones?

Different features?

In terms of battery life?

Can you jail break a Android?

Anything else you think I should know?

I like both phones really. Hard to decide, but here are some things you should maybe take into account.

~ Managing your apps in the iPhone is less confusing than the android.
~ There are more iPhone accessories out there.
~ The Android has an FM radio, SD card slot and removable battery, which the iPhone lacks, and it also takes regular-sized SIM cards.
~ In terms of weight, Andriods are lighter.
~ Andriods are cheaper.

My advice would be to try both out before buying, and seeing which would suit you most.

Oh and yes, you can jailbreak an Android phone.

Depending on the android, you can get a physical keyboard. I hate touch only phones. I have a Droid 2, and I love it to death.

I think the future belongs to Android.

It proves to be capable platform for further tech upgrade. About the experience of using a Android phone... Sometimes it could be a bit buggy. There will be multiple updates for Android to enhance the user experience.

At this stage, iPhone is more of a piece of integration (personally), I actually feel comfortable using iPhone (apart from how much you need to spend on that device). Apple has been pretty keen on getting more and more next-gen products, I remember someone was still using a iPhone 3GS (less than half a year) started to move to iPhone 4... I personally don't like iPhone and apple for its 'entrepreneurial endeavor'.

I own both a Android and iPhone.

In terms of hardware: iPhone 4 does have a kick ass display, thats about it. Too many Android varieties out there to go through but some are better and some worst then the iPhone 4.

Applications: Everything iPhone can do, Android can do better. Only exception are games, iPhone has way more awesome games then Android.

Battery: Tough one for me, since both my Nexus or iPhone does seem to go flat in one day when I use one or the other for work (I work on the road so I constantly have clients calling me). Maybe iPhone does have the slight advantage but then again Android batteries are replaceable, so you can carry more then one and replace them when they get old.

Jailbreak: You almost don't have to jailbreak an Android since it is already open enough to have most if not all the features iPhone users envy but yes you could jailbreak the Android if you wanted to as well.

Overall: My opinion, if you play lots of games go for iPhone or else go for Android.

Ok, so it seems Android has a hand up on most thing besides games, but does it still have a good range of awesome games regardless? For example I'm gonna be starting a new job as a personal trainer really soon, and I'm going to be travelling at least 1 hour each way on the train, I just need to know it's definitely gonna do the job in fighting boredom.

Well there are good games for Android, just not as many as iPhone. Maybe the few good ones will be enough to keep you company.

If you want to make sure, there are online versions of the Android App Market (theres an official Google one and one called AppBrain, Google it!). Have a browse around and see if theres anything you might enjoy. iTunes allows you to browse iPhone ones.

If you want to know, I have 80 awesome games installed at the moment on my iPhone and only 1 game on my android. The one game I have installed on my Android isn't even an exclusive, you can also get it on iPhone. So yeh, the gaming scene on Android sucks at the moment.

Android is an easier platform to develop applications on which I think will be better for the future, but for the moment Apple has the monopole on good apps. Hey remember a phone is a phone so as long as you can make phone calls, the rest is for you to decide what is better for your needs.
