no you have to buy the american or english version there is NO way to change your gore settings.
Actually you don't have to use the US/UK/NZ or any other non-nerfed edition.
I can change the Steam appid's from 550 to 510, launch from the EXE, and get the same gore content. I don't get achievements or the ability to launch from Steam any more though. Which blows.
There has to be a way to incorporate the gore switch in-game with a trainer so I thought I'd ask while L4D2 is back on the popular list again

Try the following
delete all local content via steam, logout of steam, find a proxy that will change your ip to the uk enter this in your browser, login to steam and d/l content. As steam is cloud you should be able to d/l the content that has the gore
This is just a thought, cant say that it will work but hey never know

If people want to see gore in a game, then they should be able to. You just don't strip down the things that shouldn't be seen in zombie shoot-em-ups, because that's the whole point.
First-person, shooting zombie games, such as Plants vs. Zombies, should always show everything. Sure it's not appropriate for minors when they look at it, but that's why parents won't allow them to buy it.
In short, I think the stripping down of realistic gore in this game, made by one of the greatest companies I have known for years, is like stripping down one's freedom.
